Scope and ContentThe volume contains the manuscript minutes of ordinary meetings, council meetings, special meetings, and committee meetings of the Society. Sometimes papers and addresses delivered at meetings of the Society are published in medical journals, and copies of these are occasionally attached at a relevant place in the volume of minutes.
The volume also contains some loose items which include: Menus for dinners of the Medical and Chirurgical Society of London (1884-1890); and letters from individuals such as the Duke of Devonshire, regarding using his name for the "Cavendish Lecture" (1884); Louis Pasteur (4 April 1887); John Eric Erichsen, regretfully declining to do a Cavendish lecture (7 March 1890); James Paget, thanking the Society for his honorary membership (6 June 1887); and correspondence with Eadward Muybridge about giving a lecture in April 1890.
