Admin./ biographical historyJohn Henry Sylvester was a Student of Anatomy at the Royal College of Surgeons from 1852 to 1853. He became the Deputy Surgeon General in India serving the Bombay Medical Service and participating in the Persian Campaign, the Indian Mutiny, and the Ambela Campain.
Scope and ContentThe volume contains manuscript notes on "Occupation during Studentship at the Royal College of Surgeons, 1852" by John Henry Sylvester. The volume contains diary style entries describing activities Sylvester was involved with at the College, including dissections, remounting specimens, listing and cataloguing specimens and their history, reading in the Library and noting hospital visits. Sylvester's work is countersigned by Frederic Carpenter Skey, Professor of Anatomy and Surgery from 1852.
