Transcript310: The head of a Wattle-bird of New Holland (Glaucopis cinerea). The common name of this bird was given by Captain Cook's crew and the scientific name by Forster. Both these species are remarkable for fleshy appendages connected with the beak, the use of which is not known. In Glaucopis the appendages are of a circular form and are continued pendent from the angles of the mouth, like the wattles of the same bird.
