Transcript474 E.: A Green Grasshopper (Phasgonura viridissima) dissected from the left side to show the alimentary canal. The crop and gizzard are small. The hepatic caeca form two Iobes directed forward and enveloping the gizzard. The stomach is long and capacious and is separated from the intestine by a large number of filamentous Malpighian tubes. The rectum is dilated.
