DescriptionPart of the base of an adult heart showing infective endocarditis.
SPECIMEN The aortic cusps are somewhat thickened, and one of them partly detached by ulceration, causing incompetence of the valve. The cusp is covered with a firm mass of vegetations containing small areas of calcification.
