DescriptionPortrait of William Hunter, copy after a 1789 original by Joshua Reynolds, unsigned.
Three-quarter to left, standing at table covered by a patterned cloth. He is dressed in black with white cravat and lace cuffs and wears a bob-wig. He holds a quill in his right hand, the left is on the table, on which are a triple standish with a quill in one of its ink pots, and anatomical specimens; in the background a red curtain drawn towards the right discloses shelves of books.
