The fractured portions from both bones have healed with considerable displacement, with the proximal portion of the fibula moving anteriorly of the distal portion and the proximal portion of the tibia moving to the posterior of the distal portion. The fracture sites of both bones also show evidence of chronic osteomyelitis, with the lateral surface of the tibia most affected and showing a sinus for the passage of the sequestrum from the medullary cavity.

TranscriptA right tibia and fibula which have been fractured with comminution, the former in its lower third, the latter in its upper third. The bones have united firmly with considerable angular deformity. Firm union has taken place, but with considerable distortion and superficial formation of new bone. The lower extremity of the upper fragment of the tibia forms a sharp projection at the inner part of the bone.
