DescriptionTwo views of an Indian boy (Peruntaloo) with a parasitic conjoined twin attached to his abdomen, by William Bell, 1788 or 1789, after an original by Thomas Reichel, 1787.
Copied (with the case history) from originals sent for publication to the Royal Society in London in 1788. This case was published as 'An Account of a Monster of the Human Species, in Two Letters; One from Baron Reichel to Sir Joseph Banks, Bart. and the Other from Mr. James Anderson to Baron Reichel. Communicated by Sir Joseph Banks, Bart. PRS', in the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London, Vol. 79 (1789), pp. 157-159. Reichel was employed as a surveyor and draughtsman in the East India Company's office in Madras in the 1780s.
