DescriptionDrawing of the organs of reproduction from a bull exhibiting freemartinism, by William Bell, unsigned, before 1786.
The animal from which this specimen was taken was owned by a Mr Wright. The animal was described by Hunter in his paper on freemartins published in 'Observations on Certain Parts of the Animal Oeconomy' in 1786, and an engraving by William Skelton was published with this work and reprinted in Vol. 5 of Hunter's collected works (1837) as Plate 31. A specimen from this animal is also preserved in the collection (see related records).
