Admin./ biographical historyThe Weekly Board or Committee was attended by seven or eight governors of the hospital and at least one of the surgeons. They oversaw admitting and discharging patients, as well as dealing with other staff and hospital matters. The Annual General Court was held each year in March, Quarterly General Courts were held in April of each year, and Special General Courts were held whenever they were required. Courts and Boards could appoint a Committee for occasional or special purposes, as they deemed fit, such as a “House and Nursing Committee” and a “Finance and Buildings Committee”. Courts were held to appoint senior staff members, amend hospital rules, review annual proceedings, expenses and receipts, and settle lists of subscribers.
