Scope and ContentThis sub-fonds is divided into seven areas of work carried out by William Clift whilst working as Conservator of the Hunterian Museum. This includes his duties in explaining and displaying the museum specimens such as cataloguing material and demonstrating specimens to visitors; expanding the collections through donation or purchase; making transcripts and notes of lectures and orations; carrying out general administrative duties such as reporting to senior management and keeping accounts; correspondence, mostly regarding museum matters; carrying out research into the museum collections and other contemporary work; and his role in recording the situation with regards the destruction of the Hunterian Manuscripts and efforts to replace them.
