Admin./ biographical historyBenjamin Allen was a Physician and Naturalist. He established a medical practice in Braintree, Essex. Allen was a keen naturalist, and had various papers on topics in natural history published by the Royal Society.
Scope and ContentThe collection contains two manuscript volumes with their original vellum bindings. The volumes are medical notebooks containing notes and descriptions of various diseases and cases dealt with by Benjamin Allen. The volumes, especially the second volume, also includes descriptions of other subjects such as Natural History and Astronomy.
The first volume is entitled "Praxis Medica. Medical observations towards a knowledge and cure of diseases" and the second is a titled "Conclusions in several subjects as Anatomy Medicin, Nature, Problems of the State and accidents of the world."
