Scope and Content"A Collection of choice Receipts Compil'd by Thomas Augutus Freeman And wrote by him Sunday June the 20th in the Year of our Lord 1779 and finish'd by him Sunday January the 2nd 1780."
This manuscript volume consists of 175 numbered pages containing receipts or recipes for various medical conditions. Freeman sometimes records the source of a receipt if it was passed to him, for example, Mrs Moore (p104), Mrs Lane (p140) and Dr James (p145). Among the recipes are cures for burns, broken bones, corns, hiccups, hernia, joint pain and warts.
Plarr's Catalogue of Manuscripts (1928) says the volume is dated at "Price's Lane, No 3, Dublin", but there is no evidence of this in the volume.
