Richard Owen was an Anatomist, Naturalist and Conservator of the Hunterian Museum (1849-1856). He was also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (1843). He was one of the original 300 Fellows. In 1826, he was appointed Assistant Curator under William Clift. He attended the lectures of Joseph Henry Green when Green was Hunterian Professor between 1824 to 1828.
