Admin./ biographical historyD’Arcy Power was a General Surgeon and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (1883). He matriculated from New College, Oxford in 1874. At the College, he was taught by Edwin Ray Lankester, who was Jodrell Professor of Zoology at University College London from 1874 to 1890, Linacre Professor of Comparative Anatomy at Oxford University from 1891 to 1898, and director of the Natural History Museum from 1898 to 1907.

Scope and ContentThis collection contains 5 notebooks of manuscript notes of lectures by Ray Lankester at Exeter College, Oxford, including some rough diagrams and drawings. Volumes are labelled numbers 1-5 and each lecture is titled. The lectures started with the simpler forms of life and gradually moved on the more complex, but were mainly about invertebrates.
