Admin./ biographical historyDr. Thomas Brushfield (1858–1937) was an English psychiatrist who worked in the field of intellectual disability. He was the son of Dr Thomas Nadauld Brushfield (1828–1910) who was an authority in the same field as his son.
Thomas Brushfield is noted for describing “Brushfield spots” which are small white, grey or brown spots which appear on the periphery of the iris.
Brusfield was the medical superintendent of the Fountain Hospital in Tooting, from 1914 to 1927. He died on 17 May 1937, aged 79.
