Scope and ContentThis collection contains photographs related to subjects of zoology, ornithology, anatomy and ecology, particularly in Australia:
1) Human foetuses- 3 black and white photographs of human foetuses at various stages of development. No date.
2) Rodents- seven black and white photographs of roedents, mostly females nursing their young. No date.
3) Album of photos from the McCoy Camp, Naracoopa, King Island, Australia from Dec 1937 to Jan 1938. The album is dedicated ‘to the founder, from the family.’ There are 11 pages of black and white photos mounted, showing life at the camp, the landscape and some wildlife. It also contains a letter from ‘Mother McCoy’/ Gwyneth Buchanan. The letter accompanies the photos listing the names of people who contributed and who were due later to contribute photos. No date of when the album was compiled.
4) Australian wildlife- five photographs of Australian flora and fauna including 2 lizards fighting, a family of seals, a red kangaroo, a nest of a house building rat, CJ May setting wallaby snares, 2 lizards and 2 seals.
5) Birds from Lady Julia Percy Island, Portland Island and Reevesby Island (Australia). There are 32 black and white photos, dated Jan 1936 from the McCoy Society. Species include Pelecanoides Urinatrix, Puffinus Tenuirostris, Macronectes Gigantius and Pelagodroma Marina.
6) Lawrence Rocks photographs- folder of black and white photos of oceanic birds and seals from Lawrence Rocks, c.1936
7) Photographs of Australia Aborigines- 4 black and white photos, no dates.
8) Miscellaneous Anatomical and Anthropological photographs, including an African tribeswoman with baby; an amputated foot with veins on show; an aborted foetus and two unidentified images.
