Scope and ContentThis file contains folio manuscript notes of lectures given by Sir Charles Bell in May 1827. The lectures begin with the seventh lecture on Tuesday May 1st 1827 on Hernia, and concluding with the fourteenth lecture on Thursday May 17th 1827 on the operation of the lythotomy. The notes were taken by William Home Clift, and contain various sketches. These sketches are not signed by the artist. Ian Lyle in Plarr’s “Catalogue of Manuscripts” (1928) Librarian’s annotated edition, attributed the sketches to Bell, but if they follow the trend in the previous lectures (see MS0239/1) then they may be copies of Bell’s sketches by William Home Clift.
