Scope and ContentSketches of the heads of murderers made after they were delivered to the college for dissection, with notes about their crimes made by William Clift. Some of the sketches are by Clift's son William Home Clift.
William Abbott- executed at Old Bailey on 25 February 1822 for the murder of Mary Lees alias Duggan on 7 February 1822.
William Anderson- executed at Newgate on 12 December 1816 for the murder of a young man by stabbing.
Thomas Bedworth- executed at Newgate on 18 September 1815 for the murder of Elizabeth Beazmore.
John Bellingham- executed at Newgate on 18 May 1812 for the assassination of the Prime Minister, Spencer Perceval.
John Bishop- executed at Old Bailey on 5 December 1831 for the murder of Carlo Ferrier [The Italian Boy].
Mary Cain- executed at Old Bailey on 16 Jan 1826 for the murder of Maurice Fitzgerald on 26 December 1825.
John Dennett- executed at Newgate on 22 June 1818 for the murder of Jane Rogers on 18 May 1818.
David Evans- executed at Newgate on 23 February 1818 for the murder of his wife in the night between 10 and 11 January 1818.
Elizabeth Godfrey- executed at Old Bailey on 23 February 1807 for the murder of Richard Prince.
John Head (alias Thomas Williams)- executed at Old Bailey on 5 December 1831 for the murder of Carlo Ferrier [The Italian Boy].
Esther Hibner (or Hubner)- executed at Old Bailey on 13 April 1829 for the murder of a parish apprentice (a girl) by ill treatment and starvation.
William Henry Hollings- executed at Newgate on 19 Sep 1814 for the murder of Elizabeth Pilcher on 4 July 1814 by shooting with a pistol.
John Holloway- executed, no date or place given for the murder of Mr Steele.
Charles Johnson- executed at Old Bailey on 23 February 1824 for the murder of James Richardson.
Francis Losch- executed at Newgate on 2 November 1818 for the murder of ?
James Mitchell- executed at Newgate on 19 September 1814 for the murder of Mary Ann Welchman on 4 August 1814 by shooting with a pistol.
James Pater- executed at Execution Dock on 1 February 1820 for the murder of his brother John Pater by stabbing.
Joseph Peru- executed at Newgate on July 17 1816 "murder or rather manslaughter" of a soldier, J Twigg at the anniversary of the commemoration of the Battle of Waterloo on 19 June 1816.
Sarah Perry- executed at Newgate, no date given but 19 February 1817 was her trial date, for the murder of her new born infant.
Reilly (no first name given)- executed on 11 July 1832, no place given and nothing further given.
Elizabeth Ross- executed at Newgate on 9 January 1832 for the murder or burking of an aged woman Caroline Walsh or Welsh on 19 August 1831.
Also in the file are a number of press-cuttings relating to the "burking" activities of Elizabeth Ross, c1831.
Sapwell (alias Smith, no first name given)- executed at Old Bailey on 20 September 1830 for the murder of Long, a police constable.
William Sawyer- executed at Newgate on 15 May 1815 for the murder of Harriet Gaskell in May 1814 by shooting with a pistol said to be of her own desire and then trying to shoot, razor and poison himself but failing in all.
Thomas Sharpe- executed at Newgate on 31 Oct 1814 for the murder of Elizabeth Dobbins on 4 October 1814.
Smithers (no first name given) - executed (no place given) on 9 July 1832.
Patrick Welsh- executed at Newgate on 19 September 1825 for the murder his wife.
Mary Wittenback- executed at Old Bailey on 17 September 1827 for murder of her husband.
