Admin./ biographical historyJohn Thomas Arlidge was a Physician and a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. In 1847 Arlidge became a Student of Anatomy at the Royal College of Surgeons. Studentships of Anatomy lasted for a period of two years, usually beginning in June or July of each year. Candidates for the studentship had to be members of the College and be under the age of 26. The students were paid one hundred pounds per year and their duties included devotion to the study of anatomy, physiology and related areas, and service in the Museum. Students had Sundays off, and one other day per week could be spent at their respective museums or studying in the College Library.
