Scope and ContentThe volume begins with an "Account of work done" by John Lizars Lizars, where Lizars states that he began as Student in Anatomy in October 1853, but began to complete this volume from January 1854. The volume contains diary entries describing his activities including working on preparations and dissections, reading in the Library, and attending hospital days. His work is countersigned by Frederic Carpenter Skey (Professor of Anatomy and Surgery from 1852) and Edward Stanley (Member of Council 1835-1862 and President 1848 and 1857).
The volume is then continued by Henry Robet Silvester, Student in Human and Comparative Anatomy from February 1855 to June 1856. The notes contain brief entries for each day describing Silvester's activities. Silvester spent a good deal of time on drawings and paintings of specimens, as well as engaging in some dissection, work with preparations, hospital visits and cataloguing.
